🏵Beltane Festivities🏵
April's showers have given way to rich and fertile earth, and as the land greens, there are few celebrations as representative of fertility as Beltane. We dance around the bonfire till dawn as the heady scent of burning cedar and lavender lingers in our hair. The drummers play that primal beat, and it just stirs our souls to make merry. A cup of honey mead to toast with us, for it is now a time of celebration! For this is the night of the Greenwood Marriage. It is about sexuality and sensuality, passion, vitality and joy. And about conception. A brilliant moment in the festival to bring ideas, hopes and dreams into action. And have some fun. In many customs, a pole is placed in a field with ribbons attached. Each person (usually women and girls) will grab a hold of their own ribbon, and dance around the pole specially, so as to weave the ribbons into a specific pattern.
“The earliest mention of Beltane is in Old Irish literature from Gaelic Ireland. According to the early medieval texts Sanas Cormaic ”
